Using Player FAQ

1. Can I use a headphone by another manufacturer with my device?
a. Spirit - Entempo has a microphone in the ear-bud, which requires a 4-band connector. You can try but we cannot guarantee performance.
b. Rubato – Yes you can.

2. How do I create a playlist on the drive?
There are two ways to do this. Using the playlist manager on the device or using MusicMagic (download or from accompanying CD with the Rubato).
a. You can create a playlist by selecting tracks (see manual for details).
b. You can create by using MusicMagic and a reference track and an instant playlist of tracks can be created (see MusicMagic manual for details). Musicmagic works ONLY with Rubato.
c. For Spirit, download and install MusicMagic on the PC. Go to File and scan for devices. The Spirit will be seen. Then create a new playlist. Drag and drop tracks from main window to the playlist. This playlist gets stored on the device.

3. How do I create a playlist on the PC?
This can be done in Windows™ Media Player or Music Magic. If created through Windows Media Player the list must be exported to the device using the synchronization function in WMP 10. For MusicMagic, see above

4. How do I transfer tracks to my device?
a. Through USB ‘drag and drop’ (non DRM tracks)
b. Through WMP synchronization (all tracks)

5. How can I export DRM tracks to my device?
Spirit and Rubato: DRM tracks (legal downloads) must be exported to the device through synchronization module on WMP 10. USB ‘drag & drop’ will export all tracks in your library but DRM tracks cannot be played if exported through this process.

6. How do I record from line-in?
a. Spirit – Not Applicable
b. Rubato – Use this to record from external sources such as AM Radio (see manual for details).

7. How do I update firmware?
We recommend you regularly update firmware to take advantage of new features and functions. Please ensure you download the correct firmware for your device.
a. Download Zip file for your device.
b. Unzip to a location on your hard-drive.
c. Drag the resultant files to the root of your device.
d. Reboot device after ‘safe disconnect’.

8. How do I use MusicMagic?
Install MusicMagic from the CD and have the library classify your collection of music. This is done on your PC in background mode. Tracks then exported or synchronized with portable device can be used to create instant playlist (see manual for details).

9. How do I use ID3man?
When converting songs from a CD to MP3 format, you may obtain a file name such as ‘Track 01’. You can update the file in most cases with artist and title names by installing ID3man and dragging the files to ID3 Window (see manual).

10. What is the transfer rate in order to load files on the device?
That depends on the system. USB 2.0 can transfer at up-to 40mbps.

11. How do I record from FM Radio?
Refer to the manual.

12. Does Spirit or Rubato work with Windows™ Media Player?
Yes, we support this with Windows™ Media Player 10 and lower

13. Is there a button lock (hold function) on the device to prevent unintentional button presses?
a. Spirit - ‘Menu’ + ‘Forward’ to lock, and ‘Menu’ + ‘Backward’ to unlock.
b. Rubato – Use the hold switch on the left hand side of the device.
