Kolei Group is a database consulting agency in Austin, Texas. Let us take a quick walk through the process Formula Design used to create a brand new identity for this growing technology business.

Kolei Group had been around for awhile when they came to Formula Design. They had an existing clientele, but wanted to expand their reach, and improve their image quality to a level equal what they demanded of themselves. Kolei Group felt strongly about keeping with current styles in their market segment, but wanted to stand out. They wanted a symbol as part of their logo. Looking professional was the key ingredient they desired.

Plan

The first step in developing the new brand was to research the database consulting industry. Formula Design found the industry to be fairly conservative, but we believed this could work to Kolei Group's advantage. A logo with some added energy could easily stand out, while still retaining the sense of stability necessary in the industry. During the initial discussions, Formula Design decided that the tag line would be Everything in the Right Place, eluding to Kolei Group's special ability to work with data.

Design

Formula Design decided to go with blue and red as the main colors. Blue is a calming color, but red is a call to action. The two worked well together, and we used them in various ways while developing the logo choices. Everything in the Right Place was the theme of each design, working with several interlocking shapes to create a larger image. The initials were used in a few of the logos, and Kolei eventually chose one of KG marks.

Inspire

The final branding of Kolei Group consisted of a logo, color palette, and voice that gave the company the image their services warranted. Formula Design wrote content, designed collateral, and developed a Web site to give Kolei Group the kind of consistency their clients expected of them. The final brand proves when you work with Kolei Group everything is in the right place.
