Nuglu wanted to stand out among the thousands of hosting companies that exist on the net. They wanted to look different, because they are different. They needed an identity that would communicate clearly to the designers they hoped would use their services. We, of course, found this intriguing.

Plan

Formula Design carefully researched the Web Hosting market, taking care not to think we knew everything about an industry we are familiar with. We found a wide range of services marketed to everything from non-profits to corporations. Formula Design knew that Nuglu was targeting small businesses and the designers who work for them. We decided the Nuglu message would communicate the importance of these interdependencies, reinforcing the name and it's obvious reference to new glue.

Design

The designs we developed were based on our research and the concept of interdependence. Each version of the logo contained the visual of many pieces connected together to form an N. Colors were chosen carefully to build a sense of trust in those who are concerned with security on the internet. The fonts, lines, and objects were chosen to enhance the idea of speed and stability. The designs were narrowed down to a final three and presented to Nuglu.

Inspire

Nuglu chose the logo you see today. The three pieces connect to form a cohesive whole. The smooth lines and italic text give the sense of speed, and the bold blue and black enhance the sense of stability and security. Formula Design created a line of collateral to continue building this message. All the materials are branded, and Formula Design has provided a style guide for all materials in the future. A strong brand will only get stronger as time passes.
